Privacy Policy — Music Downloader Premium
Effective date: 2024-10-01
Publisher/Developer: RunApps
1) Who we are and how to contact us
This Privacy Policy explains how the Music Downloader Premium Chrome extension (“Extension”) handles data. If you have questions or need support, contact us at [email protected].
2) What data the Extension handles
To detect and list audio playing on webpages (and to enable playback or downloads), the Extension may access and process the following categories of data:
A. Website & browsing-related data (processed for audio detection)
- Webpage information such as the domain/URL of the page you are visiting and the tab title (used to associate detected audio with a page).
- Audio resource information such as audio file URLs and related request/response metadata needed to identify audio streams and formats (e.g., MIME type/format such as MP3, WAV, OGG, OPUS; file name when available; basic media metadata exposed by the browser).
B. Data you choose to store inside the Extension (optional)
- Music/Audio List entries (e.g., detected audio items, their source page, and identifiers like audio URL) so you can access them later without revisiting the page.
- User preferences/settings (e.g., auto-scan on/off, filtering options, UI preferences).
C. Downloaded files (saved to your device)
- When you click “Download/Save”, Chrome saves the file to your device using the browser’s download mechanism. The Extension does not require your identity to download files.
- The Extension does not read your other local files. Downloaded audio remains under your control on your device until you delete it.
D. Support communications
- If you email us for support, we will receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address and any details you provide).
- We recommend you avoid sending sensitive information by email unless necessary for support.
3) What data we do NOT collect
The Extension is not designed to collect personally identifying information such as your name, government ID, precise location, contacts, or passwords. We do not require an account/login to use the Extension.
Analytics/Tracking: Unless explicitly stated in this policy, we do not run third-party analytics or tracking in the Extension and do not sell user data. If you later add analytics or crash reporting, you must update this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures accordingly.
4) How we use the data
We use the data described above only to:
- Detect audio resources on webpages you visit.
- Display a Music/Audio List and allow playback within the Extension UI.
- Enable user-initiated downloads of detected audio resources.
- Maintain your preferences/settings.
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
5) Where data is stored (local vs. server)
We do not operate a user-data server for the Extension by default. If in a future version a feature requires server communication, we will (1) describe it clearly in this policy, (2) update Chrome Web Store disclosures, and (3) use secure transport (HTTPS) for any data transmission.
6) Data sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your data and do not share Extension-handled browsing/audio data with third parties for marketing or advertising. We only disclose data in the following limited cases:
- With your consent: If you explicitly ask us to review diagnostic information you provide for support.
- Legal/security: If required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to investigate abuse/security issues.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (and only under appropriate protections).
7) Data retention
- Music/Audio List and settings: Retained locally until you clear them (e.g., “Clear list” / “Reset”) or uninstall the Extension.
- Downloaded files: Retained on your device until you delete them using your operating system or browser downloads manager.
- Support emails: Retained as long as necessary to address your request and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted or anonymized where feasible.
8) Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data handled by the Extension. Because the Extension’s primary processing is local, your Music/Audio List and settings remain in your browser profile unless you take actions that share them (for example, emailing support). If any feature transmits data in the future, we will use secure connections (HTTPS/WSS) as required by Chrome Web Store policies.
9) Your choices and controls
- Disable auto-scan: Use the Extension settings to turn off automatic scanning if available.
- Clear stored data: Clear the Music/Audio List and reset settings from within the Extension UI (if provided) or via Chrome’s site/extension storage controls.
- Uninstall: Removing the Extension deletes its locally stored settings/list from Chrome. Downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them.
10) Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us via support email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11) Platform restrictions and protected content
Certain sites and content may be restricted by platform policies or protected by their respective websites and may not be downloadable. The Extension is not intended for use in violation of applicable laws, site terms, or platform rules.
12) Chrome Web Store “Limited Use” disclosure
Limited Use: The Extension’s use of website content/resources and browsing activity is limited to providing the Extension’s user-facing features: detecting audio resources on webpages you visit, showing them in a Music/Audio List, enabling playback, and enabling user-initiated downloads.
- We do not use or transfer user data for personalized, re-targeted, or interest-based advertising.
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not allow humans to read your browsing/audio data except when you explicitly provide information for support and consent to our review.
- We only transfer data if required for security, legal compliance, or as part of a business transfer, as described in this policy.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Effective date” above when we do. If changes are material, we will provide an appropriate notice within the Extension or on the Chrome Web Store listing.
